Where An Amazing God is Doing Amazing Things!

Honduras Mission Team

Team Captains: Brent & Jane Stansell

One week of your life...
...can change the rest of theirs.

Have you ever considered becoming a missionary?  Would you like to share the love of Christ with others    around the world?  Are you willing to give one week of your time for the sake of another's eternity?

Our team is scheduled to return to Honduras June 1-8,2010. The trip is arranged by Baptist Medical and Dental International and our goal is to minister to the spiritual and physical needs of the people there.  We provide Bible School for the children, pass out tracts and Bibles to the people in the village, as well as door to door evangelism and tent services are held nightly.  In order to help with physical needs, we provide medical and dental services, including pharmacy.  Families also receive enough beans and rice for a week. If there is a need, the team may choose to provide long-term medical care (Project-Life) for an individual. We also distribute clothing; these items are donated by individuals and may be new or used, as long as the are in good condition. Other ministries may include things like fingernail painting, hair cutting, distributing personal hygeine packs, and veterinary services.

Vacation Bible School

The cost of the supplies needed to fund this trip total around $20,000.  Expense Breakdown: Medical(doctor & meds)-$10,000; Translators-$800; Evangelism(VBS, Bibles, Music)-$1,600; Freight-$3,000; Food for team-$1,200; Dental-$1,500. The rest is used to buy beans and rice, fund Project-Life, and any other optional ministries the team may choose to provide.

Undertaking a trip like this also requires a lot of faith as teams rely on fundraisers and donations to meet the financial need. If you would like to make any type of donation, we would greatly appreciate it. Monetary donations may be made though the church or BMDMI; both are charitable organizations and may be used for tax purposes. There are also other ways to donate.  We need LOTS of clothing; we accept clothes left from garage sales and will make arrangements to pick them up.  (No heavy winter apparel.)

In addition, we are collecting items for personal hygeine packs such as wash cloths, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, etc.  The children in the villages also like receiving goodies. These may be items such as "Happy Meal" toys, stuffed animals, mardi gras beads, etc. Baseball style caps are a hot item for the guys! Again, these do not have to be new as long as they are in good conition.  They are grateful to receive any "happy" we may provide. We do ask that all books donated be written in Spanish.

We especially ask that you be in prayer for us. We pray that God will use us to share His love with the people of Honduras so that seeds might be planted and souls be saved.

If you would like to contribute in any way or have any questions please contact Jane Stansell at jane@bmdmi.org . She will also be able to answer any questions about joining an existing team or maybe even forming one of your own.  You can also visit www.bmdmi.org  to learn more about the services they provide to the people of Honduras & Nicaragua.
